Industry Innovation
General manager Rory Hernandez grew up in Santa Barbara and went to high school in Ventura. After graduating from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, he went to work as an electrical engineer for major corporations, following his career across the country — until he grew tired of the bureaucracy. Rory decided to use his engineering skills to become a home inspector, which was still in its infancy as a profession, and he returned to California in 1992 with the training he needed to found InspectPros.
Rory’s goal when he started the company was to provide the highest level of professionalism and service in the industry. He was bold from the beginning, doing things his competitors couldn’t or wouldn’t do — like adding color photos to his reports. He even wrote software to extract images from his first “digital” camera, freeing himself from nightly trips to the 1-hour photo lab and mornings spent with a glue stick and a stack of pictures.
Customers appreciated the extra effort, and business quadrupled once word of the photo-enhanced reports spread. Now, about 85 percent of all inspectors include digital photography. His strategy of figuring out what other inspectors were not willing to do and providing solutions to fill those gaps helped InspectPros become the industry leader it is today. Now we are one of just a few property inspection firms to incorporate videos in reports.
Supporting Our Community
In addition to setting the bar for home and commercial inspections in Ventura County, InspectPros makes it a point to give back whenever possible. We have sponsored local events with Habitat for Humanity and the Women’s Council of Realtors, and we support the local Boys & Girls Clubs and the Food Share, Inc. food bank. InspectPros supports many national charities as well, including the Wounded Warrior Project, ALS Foundation, American Cancer Society, and the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
We also provide a “heroes discount” for doctors, nurses, firefighters, police, teachers, and active & retired military personnel when they order a home inspection, commercial property assessment, or any of our specialty services.
