NEW CONSTRUCTION ELECTRICAL DEFECTS

(Click on pictures for enlarged view)

Romex (NM) type wire should be installed with care to avoid damage to the protective jacket which insulates the individual wires.

All unterminated wires in the main electrical panel should be capped off with wire nuts to prevent them from coming in contact with an energized circuit.
Loose connections such as this ground wire are common and should be repaired to prevent more serious problems.
Loose receptacles are commonly found inside the access panels to whirlpool tubs. These must also be GFCI protected and the pump must be electrically bonded.
Wiring should be 1 1/2" from the edge of the framing or have nailing plates to protect it from being damaged. In addition, holes in framing should not be near the edges.
Recessed lighting that is not "IC" rated typically requires 3" clearance to insulation to prevent overheating. In addition, it is important to only use properly sized bulbs.
