NEW CONSTRUCTION ELECTRICAL DEFECTS
(Click on pictures for enlarged view)
|
| Romex (NM) type wire
should be installed with care to avoid damage to the protective
jacket which insulates the individual wires. |
|
| All unterminated wires in
the main electrical panel should be capped off with wire nuts to prevent
them from coming in contact with an energized circuit. |
|
| Loose connections such as
this ground wire are common and should be repaired to prevent more
serious problems. |
|
| Loose receptacles are commonly found
inside the access panels to whirlpool tubs. These must also be GFCI
protected and the pump must be electrically bonded. |
|
| Wiring should be 1 1/2"
from the edge of the framing or have nailing plates to protect it
from being damaged. In addition, holes in framing should not be near
the edges. |
|
| Recessed lighting that is
not "IC" rated typically requires 3" clearance to insulation
to prevent overheating. In addition, it is important to only use properly
sized bulbs. |
